Compare the network speed between 5g Vinaphone and 5g Viettel

Currently, Viettel and VinaPhone are the first two carriers in Vietnam to commercialize 5G, bringing outstanding mobile network experience to users. Testing conditions

In this article, I will compare the speed and actual usability of 5G VinaPhone and 5G Viettel network with the following conditions:

• Use on two 14T Xiaomi, with software updates (Hyperos 2) and applications to the latest version;
• Use 1N package on Viettel and Big50Y sim on VinaPhone Sim;
• Perform comparison and speed measurements at 8 pm, at some locations in Hanoi capital.

Measure speed by Speedtest application

First, I made a speed measurement by the Speedtest application at Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Dong Da District. Coincidentally, this is the place where VNPT’s headquarters and broadcasting stations are located. Here, the 5G result that VinaPhone carrier brings is relatively impressive. This mobile network can push the download speed up to nearly 700 Mbps, while reaching nearly 100 Mbps the upload speed.

Compared to 5G Viettel, the download speed of 5g Vinaphone is twice as high. When placed next to 4G Vinaphone, the difference is up to 8 times.

Even, the Speedtest application cannot be paid for the upload speed. Meanwhile, 5G Viettel still maintains stability with the download speed of about 400 Mbps.

Finally, I measured Speedtest speed at Me Tri – Pham Hung Street, Nam Tu Liem District. Although quite near a vinaphone broadcast station, the download speed of 5G VinaPhone network is still relatively lower than Viettel.

Next, I proceeded to download the same YouTube video with Full HD resolution, 454 MB capacity via two sims. At Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Dong Da District, 5G Viettel network only takes more than 20 seconds to complete, faster than VinaPhone. This is quite surprising because at this location, 5G Vinaphone network gives Speedtest speed very quickly.

The difference has not changed much when I move to the intersection of Me Tri – Pham Hung street, Nam Tu Liem district. Vinaphone 5G network maintains an average speed of about 90 – 100 Mbps, while Viettel network processes much faster, ranging in about 17-20 Mbps.

Finally, I proceeded to play games to compare the delay between 5G network of VinaPhone and Viettel. More specifically, I logged in to the Mobile Union account on two Xiaomi 14T, then put in a match together to compare the difference in Ping.

At both locations, Huynh Thuc Khang Street, Dong Da District and the intersection of Me Tri – Pham Hung, Nam Tu Liem District, the delay when playing the game of 5G VinaPhone and 5G Viettel is not much different. The average ping level when playing games at these locations ranges from 40 – 50 ms. Considering carefully, users will see the ping of 5G VinaPhone network is a bit higher. However, this difference can completely ignore.

Through the three tests above, it can be seen that the Viettel 5G network is having an advantage before Vinaphone at the speed when using Speedtest and experience when used in reality. In places near the broadcasting station, 5G Vinaphone network can give very high speed. However, in some places far away from the station, the speed is not as expected and inferior to Viettel.

In the YouTube video download task, 5G Viettel network shows the superiority in both locations. Meanwhile, if playing Lien Lien Mobile, the latency on both mobile networks is similar.

Vinaphone network users do not need to worry about this loss. At the present time, due to the new commercialization of 5G, the carrier needs more time to deploy the broadcasting stations and optimize the speed so that it is most stable. When this stage has been completed, users can fully expect Vinaphone’s 5G network for impressive transmission speed, even more than Viettel.
